Boğaziçi University, with a history of more than 150 years, is one of the most distinguished higher education institutions in Türkiye. Boğaziçi University was founded on September 10, 1971, and has been expanding its academic units since then. As a part of this expansion, on February 6, 2021, Boğaziçi University Faculty of Law was established and welcomed its first students in September 2022. According to the official rankings, our faculty became the second most preferred law faculty among state-affiliated universities in its first year, which is a clear as well as a solid indication that Boğaziçi University Faculty of Law will play an essential role in meeting the need for a law faculty which provides bilingual education in English and Turkish.

Boğaziçi University Faculty of Law aims to offer legal education with international standards to its successful student body. Our young and dynamic faculty members have completed their postgraduate studies at globally renowned institutions, and our undergraduate curriculum, which consists of a wide range of compulsory and elective courses offered in English in addition to the ones that are traditionally taught in Turkish, has been prepared with an international perspective. We shall teach our students fundamental concepts and principles in the main areas of law, such as Civil Law, Criminal Law, Administrative Law, and Constitutional Law, while simultaneously providing opportunities to deepen their knowledge in specialised fields including, but not limited to, information technology law, law and economics, and financial law. All of our courses embrace a comparative approach and are supported by multilingual resources and materials in order to ensure that our students engage with and are exposed to different perspectives.

In accordance with the “university integrity system” reflecting Boğaziçi University’s educational approach, we also have courses taught by other departments in our undergraduate curriculum. In this way, our students not only enjoy the privilege of being a member of this community with a deep-rooted history and cultural background but also have the opportunity to gain an interdisciplinary perspective. Moreover, by offering law courses taught in English to all departments of the University, our faculty takes part in and contributes to the intellectual heritage of Boğaziçi University.

It is our desire that our faculty emerges as an influential and intellectually stimulating forum to educate the talented youth of our country on their path to becoming legal professionals and individuals who are aware of the swiftly changing circumstances and challenges of modern society. Our graduates shall be equipped to analyse and find solutions to these challenges. With these feelings and thoughts, we invite all prospective students pursuing high-quality legal education to Boğaziçi University Faculty of Law.
